What is the history of Reiki?
Although the exact origin of Reiki (pronounced "ray kee") is unknown, Dr. Mikao Usui founded the healing modality known as Usui Reiki in early twentieth century Japan. Dr. Usui was born into a wealthy family and studied in a Buddhist monastery as a child. His education included the study of theology, psychology and medicine. Dr. Usui also traveled a great deal and studied various healing techniques, hoping to find one that would be accessible to all.
In 1922 Dr. Usui decided to cleanse his mind and body and went on a retreat to Mt. Kurama. After fasting, meditating and praying for twenty-one days he was enlightened and awakened to the use of Reiki energy for healing.
When he left Mt. Kurama Dr. Usui opened a clinic inTokyo, where he taught and practiced for four years before his death in 1926. One of his initiates, Dr. Chujira Hayashi, a former naval officer, opened his own Reiki clinic in Tokyo. Dr. Hayashi treated a woman named Hawayo Takata, who eventually became one of his students.
Mrs. Takata, a Japanese woman living in Hawaii, became a Reiki master in 1938 and, during her lifetime, initiated twenty-two Reiki masters. Mrs. Takata is credited with bringing Reiki to the western world. Today Usui Reiki is practiced worldwide.
What are some of the benefits of Reiki?
Reiki can facilitate physical, emotional and mental well-being. Here are some of its many benefits:
What is Distance Reiki?
Distance Reiki is a technique that enables a practitioner to channel Reiki energy to anyone, anywhere, at any time. This method broadens the practitioner's ability to transmit energy beyond physical touch, because energy transcends time and space. And everything is made up of energy and everything is connected.
During a Distance Reiki session, the practitioner connects with a person or pet on an energetic level. Every living being's frequency is unique, and the practitioner tunes into that unique energy. It's a matter of tuning in to a specific frequency.
The practitioner sends Distance Reiki to the intended recipient once the connection is made and sets the intention for the healing to go where it is most needed. Crystals can also be used for Distance healing, as their vibrations can flow to where they are needed as well.
What should I do prior to a Distance Reiki session?
If possible the recipient should email a current photo of themselves beforehand. They should also specify any issues or challenges that require treatment and their desired goal or outcome. It's also important to set your intention to receive the healing energy.
Ideally at the specified time of the appointment the client should be relaxed and sitting comfortably or lying down. If that's not possible you will still receive benefits from Reiki's healing energy no matter where you are or what you're doing.
What can I expect during my initial consultation?
At your first appointment I will describe the session to you and give you the opportunity to discuss any particular problems or issues you are experiencing. I will also ask what you're hoping to achieve from your session with me.
What might I experience during a Reiki session?
Most clients find the session comforting and feel a sense of calm and relaxation. Some find it so relaxing that they fall asleep or into a meditative state. Others may not feel anything at all, especially during the first session. Reiki is cumulative and even people who find the first experience uneventful usually have increasingly deeper experiences during subsequent sessions.
How many sessions will I need?
During an initial session we can discuss the best course of action based on your desired goal or outcome. If you have a long-term condition or issue, one session may not be adequate. It is recommended that you try at least three sessions to see if Reiki is right for you. Sessions conducted over an extended period of time have a cumulative effect.
Is there anything I should do after a session?
It's best to not schedule anything immediately following a session so that you can relax and allow the work to integrate fully. You should also drink plenty of water.
Is Reiki safe during pregnancy?
Absolutely!
What is Crystal Reiki?
Crystal Reiki is the use of crystals along with the channeling of Reiki energy to promote and support the body's physical, emotional and mental healing process. During a session I allow the subtle vibrations of the crystals to flow to where they are needed. I may use several different types of crystals during Distance Reiki session. I will lay them out, and as I select each crystal I set forth a specific intention for what I would like to accomplish.
Using crystals to promote health and well being is not a new concept, it's an ancient one. The Incans, Mayans and Aztecs all used crystals for spiritual, emotional and physical healing, while the ancient Egyptians and Greeks used them for health and protection. Native Americans used and continue to use crystals for diagnosing and treating ailments.
In what way do crystals facilitate the healing process?
Everything in the universe is comprised of energy and vibrations. However, everything does not vibrate at the same speed, which means your frequency is different from other things in the universe. When we are not well, our vibration is lowered. Crystals can facilitate the healing process because they resonate on a different vibration and frequency and can increase the body's vibration and bring it back into balance.
In what way does a Distance Reiki session differ from an in-person session?
A Distance Reiki session is shorter than an in-person session because the practitioner is working on an energetic level through time and space. Distance Reiki works quickly and has the same potency and power as an in-person session. It has been proven to be extremely effective, sometimes even more effective than an in-person healing session. Distance Animal Reiki sessions are even shorter than sessions for people because animals tend to receive Reiki quickly.
Would you ever refuse to work with a client?
I accept any and all clients from all walks of life who are open minded, respectful and honest. However there are times when I won't work with a client.
Monday thru Friday 11:00 am - 7:00 pm (EST) and Saturday - Sunday 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
